“Hi, I am George Ayre, as well as Labour’s national manifesto, here are the reasons I am standing for Parliament. These are the issues I feel passionate about. You can contact me at any point to ask me what I really think about any issue.”
The Economy
The Conservatives have doubled the national debt since entering office, economic growth has been almost non-existent, I believe it’s time we brought arithmetic back to economic management. The Conservatives have been disingenuous with you when they talk about their economic track record. The fact is, Labour will invest in businesses in areas like ours through regional development banks, creating quality jobs.
Reverse cuts to policing & justice
We knew 10 years ago that violent knife crime was an issue. So the Conservatives and Lib Dems cut 20,000 police officers. Labour will reverse these cuts. The huge reduction in police numbers can be linked to the huge increase in crime we are seeing on our streets. It’s not just police, it’s back room police support staff, court workers, probation workers and youth services. Labour will spend in all of these areas. Elect me as your MP and I will be an MP who is tough on law and order.
A National Care Service
Care in this country is a national scandal. We let the poorly, old and those suffering from dementia down. Care workers (who have hearts of gold) are paid less than minimum wage and are often treated like dirt by their employers. Labour will introduce a National Care Service, so those who need care can get it for free. We will end the scandal of the dementia tax, whilst also providing care for the sick and elderly.
There is a climate change emergency
Labour believes that everything the government does should be aimed at reducing Britain’s CO2 output. Whether that means providing public transport or nationalising energy companies. We can tackle so many problems whilst at the same time also taking big action on climate change.
A Voice for those ‘just about managing’
This Christmas, there are thousands of families in our constituency who are ‘just about managing’ to make ends meet. We have seen ten years of austerity, huge increases to the cost of living and only minimal pay rises. Whilst the government stands idly by. Labour will tackle the cost of living and see Britain gets a pay rise. Public service workers will receive a 5% pay rise after 10 years of austerity.
Sort out the NHS and education
After ten years of Conservative and Lib Dem governments, our schools and NHS are in a mess. Teachers are stressed to breaking point and schools are begging for money. The NHS is being privatised, it takes three weeks to see a doctor and there is a mental health crisis.
Tell them to stop messing about with Brexit
The Tories have messed up Brexit – that’s the reason we are having a Christmas election. Boris Johnson’s deal is bad for Britain. Labour will renegotiate the deal and let you choose.
Worker’s rights
As a trade union organsier, let me tell you that one of the big reasons wage increases have slowed down is the Trade Union Act introduced by the Conservatives. A law to fix a problem that doesn’t exist. I will fight to see this dreadful law abolished so Britain can get the pay rise it deserves.
